What are the vision and goals of OCDA?

OCDA wants to rehabilitate street children and reintegrate them with their families. Further, the goal is to prevent children on the verge of "streetism" from becoming full time street children. OCDA wants to strengthen families by creating income generating activities that will afford  them the ability to take care for their families independently.

• What does OCDA offer?

Education: OCDA pays school fees, provide the children with school supplies, provide uniforms, operate a small library, and offer tutoring.

Family support: OCDA works with beneficiaries' families, provides food if needed, reunites street children with existing families, and encourages income generating activities.

Children: OCDA offers a safe Drop-in center for street Children. OCDA also runs two half-way homes for children, who have no other home. OCDA provides medical care, healthy food, and give the children clothes and shoes.

• Onesimus Ministry:  offers counseling, evangelism, devotions, conference and discipleship training.

 

• OCDA Programs:

Programs include the Income Generation Activity (IGA) and a Development project, which also covers 3 different projects, trying to help and reintegrate street kids in Addis Ababa.

The Development Program includes a Drop-in center, two halfway homes and a so-called safe project.

• The Drop in center is especially set up for street kids. It provides informal education, sports activities, and a place where the kids can forget all their worries and just play and have fun in a loving environment. Onesimus also gives the kids an opportunity to take showers and get their clothes clean.

• The halfway homes (there are two, one for girls and one for boys) major goal is to reintegrate kids who have been living on the street. It's best described as a transition house that provides food, and a bed for street kids. They live at the home while the staff tries to find guardians that will take care of our children and give them a loving environment.

• The Safe Project is another part of Onesimus' work.  Through this project we try to find guardian families for kids whose families are not able to take care of their children, due to great poverty.

The Income Generation Activity (IGA) includes different kinds of work that all deal with local agriculture. 

• Income Generation project for OCDA is located south of Ethiopia's capital city. By growing and selling their products, the IGA for OCDA is able to support the organization financially. They mostly plant highland fruits like apples, vegetables and raise chickens.

• A second project the IGA has established is helping local farmers in the south of Ethiopia. By providing them with chickens and potato seeds, the IGA invests in the local communities. With this help, the local families are able to set up their own farms and grow their own food.

What are the vision and goals of Onesimus Ministry?

Onesimus Ministry (OM) is licensed spiritual ministry and has been working for over ten years in street kids’ evangelism, discipleship making training, preaching training, and one-to-one evangelism in Addis Ababa, Arba Minch, Awassa, Bahirdar, Mekele, and different locations in Ethiopia. The evangelism focuses on non-believes, and the trainings targeting church leaders, posters, evangelists, youth leaders, children teachers and women ministries.

From this evangelism, the number of people has been accepting Jesus as personal Savior and expanding the church. From the trainings the churches are becoming strong, the posters, leaders and evangelists have been benefited from it in order to build the body of Christ as well.

Objectives

1. To proclaim the good news to non-believers so that they may accept Jesus Christ

2. To provide the discipleship training in order to make them the true followers of Christ; so they will be discipleship makers.

3. To sustain the new believers’ street kids’ life spiritually and physically in order to make them productive in the church and beyond.

Activities

1. Conducting conferences at Ethiopian major holidays like Christmas and Easter.

2. Conducting small group evangelism in staff level

3. One to one evangelism in staff level

4. Discipleship trainings for the number of new believers

5. Preparing sustainability provision (in cash or in kind) (physical need) for new street kids believers

Outcomes

1. Those who heard the Gospel will be able to be saved

2. The new believers will be the followers of Jesus (disciples)

3. The new believers from the street will be able to reintegrated with their families and able to sustain their life

Onesimus USA accomplishes its mission by raising financial support and awareness for gospel-centered, soul-redeeming, and life-changing charitable activities that align with its mission and exempt purposes. In furtherance of these purposes, Onesimus USA may provide support to charitable efforts carried out by Onesimus Child Development Association (Onesimus CDA) and Onesimus Ministry in Ethiopia, subject to the independent discretion, oversight, and approval of the Onesimus USA Board of Directors.

Funds collected through this website, its related links, the Onesimus Sponsorship Program, and other fundraising activities conducted by Onesimus USA are received and administered by Onesimus USA, Inc.

Consistent with its charitable mission, Onesimus USA may allocate funds to support approved charitable activities carried out by Onesimus CDA and Onesimus Ministry in Ethiopia. All such allocations are made at the sole discretion of Onesimus USA and are subject to oversight, accountability, and compliance with applicable U.S. and international laws. Onesimus USA does not act as a conduit or agent for any other organization.

All board members of Onesimus USA serve as unpaid volunteers and are committed to advancing the mission of sharing the Gospel and caring for vulnerable children.
